Chris Myers is trying to distract you from his abysmal tax record.

While George Bush was building a mountain of federal debt, Chris Myers was following his lead and bloating his town's budget by more than 50%.

Bush has blown through the surpluses he inherited when taking office, and Myers is busy following Bush’s lead. Like Bush, Myers calls himself a fiscal conservative. But he can’t cover up his record property tax increases in Medford: Myers has voted for every budget while in political office, including the largest tax increase in Medford’s history.

Myers has voted to increase spending by more than $7.8 million, increasing the bloated Medford budgets by more than 50%.

Since taking office in 2002, Myers has voted for $7,820,348.26 in new spending, an increase of 53.87%.

Myers has voted to increase the Medford tax levy by more than 60% since 2002.

Since taking office in 2002, Myers has voted for an increase of $3,370,656.67 in the municipal-purpose property tax levy, a 61.5% increase.

Myers has voted to increase the Medford tax rate by almost 50%.

Since taking office in 2002, Myers has voted to increase the local purpose tax rate by 46%.

In fact, Myers voted for the 2004 budget hit taxpayers with the largest tax increase in Medford history.

The 2004 budget increased taxes by a whopping 24%, from $6.7 million to $8.3 million. No other Medford budget since 1960 has come close.

Mayor Myers’ election-year tax “cut” was only achieved with accounting tricks—and will only save the average taxpayer $8.

That’s not a typo. Chris Myers is basing his entire campaign for Congress on the $8 he found for taxpayers in an election year.  Residents owning homes assessed at the township average of $201,803 paid $1,007 to Medford Township in 2007, and will pay $999 this year.  Way to go, Chris.
